PROGRAMS
Makerspace-on-Wheels (MOW) Workshops
CCL’s initiatives include: 1) Makerspace on Wheels: STEAM-based educational workshops and camps, delivered in a variety of settings in collaboration with Title I schools and community-based organizations including after-school programs, libraries, hospitals, summer camps, and community centers throughout Orange County; 2) Community and Family Events: Custom activities that bring creativity to life for the Orange County community; 3) Creativity in Residence: A new and growing program that provides sustained support over four months to schools through CCL-led workshops, STEAM + Creativity Kits, and Family Nights; 4) Professional Development and Curriculum Support: CCL instructors teach educators to incorporate creativity and project-based arts-integrated learning into their classrooms, provide curriculum, and Creativity Kits; and 5) Depot for Creative Reuse: Our warehouse of recycled materials for projects provides an affordable resource for the public and educators.
As a result of CCL’s programs, students learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, build communication skills, develop character, and establish meaningful connections—essential skills for academic and workplace success. To achieve those goals, CCL’s programming is assessed against the following main outcomes:
1. Students served: CCL will partner with 80 schools and community organizations, holding a minimum of 500 programs and distributing over 15,000 STEAM kits, bringing our programming to an estimated 20,000 students in Orange County, totaling more than 25,000 hours of creativity delivered;
2. Overall student experience: We anticipate that 95% of the students will have a greater understanding of STEAM by learning 3-5 STEM concepts per lesson; 90% will be inspired to be more creative; 90% will be more confident in their ideas; and 95% will be inspired to learn more about STEAM; and
3. Educator engagement: CCL will improve teacher engagement through the delivery of targeted STEAM educator training sessions for up to 500 educators.
