Welcome to OC Nonprofit Central, where you can find detailed information about local nonprofit organizations in Orange County. OC Nonprofit Central can help you make informed decisions about giving to the causes you care about most.
Through this online database, you can research organizations using a simple name and/or keyword search. Nonprofit organization profiles allow you to view their mission, history, impact, programs, business practices, financial statements and much more. There is no rating or grading of nonprofits associated with Nonprofit Central. Our goal is to establish organizational transparency that empowers donors to make more informed and strategic giving decisions.
Below are some questions to consider when researching a nonprofit organization. You will find detailed responses to these questions in the organization’s Nonprofit Central profile.
Overview
What is the history of this organization? Where does this organization work and how is it having an impact on the community? What support does this organization need in order to more effectively deliver on its mission?
Programs
What programs and/or services is this organization providing? What kind of impact are these programs having? How is success measured?
Management
Is the staff of this organization reflective of the communities it serves? Are the necessary business practices in place for this organization to plan for the future and operate in a responsible and effective manner? Is this organization working in partnership with others to deliver on its mission?
Governance
How active and engaged is this organization’s board? the composition of the board reflective of the population that the organization serves? Are appropriate practices in place to support responsible and effective governance?
Financials
Is the organization solvent? Does the organization rely on a single or small group of funders and donors or does it have diversified sources of revenue? Does the organization have a line of credit or an endowment? Further Donor FAQs
Q. Who can donate? And how?
Anyone can donate! Donations through the OC Nonprofit Central online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and cannot be refunded. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card. For gifts over $100, donors will have the option to donate from their online bank account via an ACH transfer; this "Plaid" payment option has a flat fee of $3.
No goods or services can be received by the donor for gifts made through the Nonprofit Central site.
Q. How will donations be distributed?
Each donation made to a participating nonprofit will be disbursed directly from Givsum via direct deposit within 1-3 business days.
Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?
Givsum retains a 5% + $03.0 platform fee inclusive of credit card processing for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the receiving organization. All donations are final and cannot be refunded.
Q. Will I receive a receipt?
Yes. You will automatically and instantly receive a receipt sent to the email address provided at checkout from the nonprofit receiving your donation. It will include a thank you message and a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. This transaction will appear on your credit card statement as the name of the organization you donated to, with a 22 character limit.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
The organization(s) you choose to support and OCCF, the host of OC Nonprofit Central, will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.
Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?
Yes! Simply visit www.ocnonprofitcentral.org on your mobile device.
Q. How can I learn more about an organization that interests me?
To learn more about a specific participating organization, we encourage you to contact the nonprofit directly by accessing the contact information in their profile.
Q. What if my preferred organization is not listed?
Please send an email to ocnonprofitcentral@oc-cf.org to request that we contact your organization of choice.
