Positive Prevention

All For Kids’ Positive Prevention services work further upstream to prevent abuse before it occurs, investing in innovative ways to strengthen families and support children before harm happens. Research has shown that 90% of a child’s brain development occurs in the first five years. To this end, we focus much of our prevention efforts on families with children aged 0 to 5. We know that early childhood and parent education — before kindergarten — lead to academic, social, and economic benefits for children, as well as creating social support that strengthens families and mitigates the stress of isolation in parents. We screen at-risk families, strengthen community supports and connections, intervene early, and provide vital resources and education, thereby reducing the occurrence of child maltreatment. Dedicated to building family resilience, All For Kids prevention programs provide education, practical support, resources, and social connections that help children develop healthfully and parents feel confident in their parenting skills. Our caring staff offer free home visits to expectant and new parents and families with young children; help fathers strengthen their bonds with their children; connect families with a wide range of services through FRCs; equip residents to become leaders and changemakers in their communities; and more.

Behavioral Health Services

All For Kids’ behavioral health services support vulnerable children and youth from birth through age 21 in Los Angeles County who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. Services include behavioral health assessments; individual, family, and group therapy; psychiatric support; targeted case navigation; and connections to critical resources.

Foster Care & Adoption

All For Kids’ foster care and adoption services help children and youth in foster care experience safety, stability, and a lasting sense of belonging. Across Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura, and Kern counties, All For Kids recruits, trains, assesses, approves, and supports resource families prepared to foster or foster-to-adopt. These families provide safe, nurturing homes while children move toward reunification with their birth families or, when reunification is not possible, adoption. All For Kids provides resource families with preparation and training, case management, ongoing home visits, 24-hour support, parent education, support groups, therapeutic services, and connections to resources that address children’s developmental needs. All For Kids also helps families pursuing adoption through foster care with training, home studies, and ongoing guidance.
