Art & Creativity Classes for Elementary School Youth

The Center’s diverse range of art-based creativity programs, covering all disciplines of art making, are designed to inspire and unleash the creative voice that resides in each individual. We offer these classes through contractual relationships with elementary school after class enrichment programs and other cities at community venues in partnership with numerous cities in Orange County, California.

Budget
$46,000
Outcomes

In order to present measurable outcomes, we utilize the Guilford Scale as a tool to measure the student's divergent thinking levels before and after the instruction of each program. This scale measures changes in fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Results from our latest analysis is – 153% improvement in fluency; 127% improvement in flexibility; 91% improvement in originality and 52% improvement in elaboration.

Private Art Lessons & Portfolio Development

Our private art lessons ignite creative expression in an accepting, nurturing environment for children and young adults at all skill levels. Sessions are tailored to the needs of each student in the method and media of their choice. We also offer Orange County School of the Arts portfolio preparation for application submissions.

Budget
$30,000
Outcomes

There is a growing recognition that creativity is essential for a fulfilling life and a more creative community with the skills to solve the most complex problems for our time. With art budgets being slashed in schools, we fulfill an urgent and unmet need for our youth. Our distinctive goal is not to merely teach the mechanics of art, but to teach PROCESS of creativity for people at all stages of life.

Adult Art Classes

Our adult art classes provide a creative outlet and a fun, social experience. While the classes are open to anyone over 18 years old, most of our participants are older adults looking to learn a new skill or improve their art ability.

Budget
$14,000
Outcomes

Studies have shown that making art is good for brain health as we age. “When you activate an area of the brain, it works like a muscle. It gets bigger and functions more efficiently. MRI studies have revealed that creative activity activates more brain areas than just about any other kind of activity.” – Dr. William R Shankle, Director of the Memory and Cognitive Disorders Program at Hoag Neurosciences Institute (Los Angeles Times, September 2014)

Girl Scouts Badge Workshops

Our teaching artists guide Girls Scouts as they earn badges related to visual arts & creative thought. Each program includes technique and content to meet the badge requirements defined by the Girl Scouts - for Daisies, Brownies, Junior and Cadette levels.

Budget
$6,000
Outcomes

While many parents have the skills to teach badge earning skills to their Girl Scouts, teaching art-based skills is more challenging and requires specialized expertise. Our experienced teaching artists lead Girl Scouts in our “turnkey” workshops that fulfill this need in both multiple and individual troop sessions.

Community Events

Our free community events, open to the public, inspire young artists who may not otherwise receive art instruction. “Saturday Morning Cartoons & Drawing” teaches children how to draw characters like a pro. Chuck Jones Big Draw is a customized, creative experience for large groups from school districts and other not-for-profit organizations with a specific theme. We also provide themed activities at other community events – such as Art in the Park in Newport Beach, Family Art Day at the Potocki Center in Mission Viejo, ARTVenture in Costa Mesa, and Festival of Children at South Coast Plaza.

Budget
$8,000
Outcomes

The beauty of participating in our activities at community events is that they provide the opportunity for quality family time through creative activities that replace digital overuse.
