CEO/Executive Director Experience
Mr. Stephen Walswick '02 was named president in 2023 after serving as principal for the previous two years. A product of Catholic education from elementary to graduate school, Mr. Walswick strives to support and serve the members of his community through Catholic servant leadership. In doing this, he seeks to actualize their potential and promote an environment of mutual peace, respect, and understanding. His journey to Catholic school leadership can be traced back to his formative years at Servite. As a member of Servite's Class of 2002, Mr. Walswick cultivated a passion for learning, service to the community, and the development of his faith. While maintaining a rigorous course load, he played water polo and swam all four years. As the Gilde president, a service-oriented organization, Mr. Walswick worked with his peers to support the mission of Servite and serve the community as Christian witnesses. It was in attending and then leading Kairos retreats that he began to discern his vocation. After completing a double major in English Literature and Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University, Mr. Walswick returned to Servite as a faculty member and assistant water polo coach. In his six years in the classroom, he taught multiple levels of English, including AP Literature, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Journalism. "My fondest memories at Servite involved connecting with my students in such a way that I knew that they were on the path towards being the best versions of themselves. It is such an inspiring honor to see the men, husbands, and fathers they have become," said Mr. Walswick. He helped advance the technology program as the Director of Educational Technology, working on modernizing the library, facilitating e-texts and online resources, and updating the student information and learning management systems. As the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Technology, Mr. Walswick worked closely with teachers to develop their instructional practices and design new course electives for students. During his tenure at Servite, Mr. Walswick earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Chapman University and a Master of Arts in Catholic School Administration from Loyola Marymount University, where he was named the Graduate Student of the Year for the entire School of Education and received the Most Outstanding Graduate Award for the Catholic School Administration Program. Empowered with the desire to maximize the gifts that God has given him, Mr. Walswick sought to expand his leadership capacity and served as a school principal of Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, TX for three years. His journey as a Catholic school leader would not be possible without his family's support and influence. One of nine children, Mr. Walswick is grateful for his parents' witness of the Catholic faith and sacrifice to send him and his siblings to Catholic schools. He was introduced to his beautiful wife, Lacey, by a Servite teacher, and the two have been married for over 13 years. They have four spirited children: three girls and a boy, who bring great joy and energy to their home each day. Outside of work and school, Mr. Walswick enjoys gardening, baking, watching the latest superhero movie, and listening to audiobooks.
