Medical Innovation Research and Entrepreneurship (MIRE) Program
In partnership with Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and local Regional Occupational Programs, high school students across Orange county work with industry leaders to solve a real-world unmet pediatric clinical need. During the 9 week hybrid course, student teams meet with a medical, research and business professionals to develop a unique solution and create business plan and proof of concept. The course culminates in a pitch competition judged by industry leaders. Students also earn 2.5 of UC/CSU transferrable units.
The MIRE Course is part of ULP's Exploration series of opportunities. It allows students to discover the variety of Life Science Careers and has helped inspire them to pursue further education in medicine, engineering, research, innovation, business and marketing. Since 2020 over 600 Orange County high school students have attended MIRE at ULP.
