Orange County Music Saves
Over the past ten years, in partnership with three public school districts, STM has invested in new music programs for 39 schools in Orange County, increasing access for more than 30,000 students. Orange County is widely celebrated for its rich music and arts culture, yet disparities in music education persist – and often reflect the broader inequities seen across the country. These inequities are especially stark in Anaheim, a city located within one of the wealthiest U.S. counties. Despite the region’s affluence, many Anaheim public schools lack the instruments, technology, and resources necessary for all students to access quality music education. We see an immediate opportunity to invest in music programs across approximately 50 more K-12 public schools in Anaheim and Garden Grove in close partnership with local school districts – helping bridge the gap and build a more equitable future for young creators.
- Increased access for thousands of K-12 students in public schools throughout Orange County to participate in music as part of the regular school day, including increased access to new musical instruments and music technology.
- Increased access to targeted professional development and program support, creating a pool of teachers with higher content-level knowledge.
- Increased awareness and commitment to providing in-school music education taught by qualified teachers in Orange County among teachers, principals, arts coordinators, and district leadership through continuous strategic advocacy.
