Arab American Civic Council
PROGRAMS
Advocacy & Civic Engagement
Advocacy and Civic Engagement programs seek to engage the community with their public officials, advocating for solutions on policy issues that impact the Arab American community in particular, and Americans in general. The Arab American Civic Council works to develop relationships with elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels to increase understanding of the issues that impact the community. Such policies include for example immigration and refugee policies as well as issues that undermine civil rights. Our advocacy work relies on organizing, coalition building, and youth engagement.
Our long-term goal is to empower the Arab American community to impact policies and decision-makers to consider the individual and collective voice of the Arab Americans on issues of social justice.
Mobilizing, Organizing, and Voter Engagement of Arab Americans (MOVE ARAB AMERICANS)
Understanding that community power is built over time, we use organizing tools like year-round voter registration and mobilization to empower, engage, and increase voter representation. To ensure Arab American participation in each election, we mobilize our community through Get Out The Vote campaigns using tactics such as phone banking, text banking, and door-to-door canvassing.
Our voter development program increases Arab American voter participation and education and creates a community that understands the value of participating in local and national elections. We mobilize up to 100,000 Arab American voters prior to each election, engage 20 volunteers, and register hundreds of new voters.
