Parenting & Sharing Series

Free topic-specific workshops, where experts educate parents on the latest information and strategies for coping with some of autism’s biggest challenges, from IEPs to insurance coverage to transitions and more. Currently based in Orange County, CA, with plans to expand regionally. And we’ve recently added online capabilities with webinars and virtual meetings.

Budget
$1,000
Outcomes

Parents of individuals on the spectrum are often at a loss about what to do and where to turn for information and advice. This series enables them to gain insights from professionals in the fields of health, finance, trusts, government benefits, insurance, psychology, socialization, school IEPs, nutrition, exercise and more.

Independent Living Skills Workshops

These periodic and recurring workshops teach practical life skills to autistic individuals, covering basic finance, cyber safety, cooking, fitness, employment and more – among the life skills sorely lacking in our neurodiverse youth. Currently based in Orange County, CA, with plans to expand regionally.

Budget
$6,500
Outcomes

Young people on the spectrum learn in alternative ways. These workshops are specially tailored to help our members gain the life skills needed to succeed in the neurotypical world, reducing the need for family and government assistance. With unemployment among those on the spectrum reaching 85 percent, our interviewing and work skills program components are particularly crucial today.

Friday Night Fun for Teens

Hosted by College Living Experience (CLE)-Costa Mesa, these relaxed, engaging social events afford neurodiverse high school students the opportunity and encouragement to break their pattern of reclusiveness and dare to overcome their social anxieties in a safe, nurturing and fun environment. Currently based in Orange County, CA, with plans to expand regionally.

Budget
$1,500
Outcomes

Young people on the spectrum often live a life of bullying, judgment and exclusion. This has become the event of the month that draws young people on the spectrum into a safe, nonjudgemental environment where they are at ease to socialize, share, make friends and interact, while taking part in an enjoyable activity. It's not a playdate, it's an important opportunity to practice social skills they can then take into the neurotypical world.

Art & Creativity Workshops

A quarterly workshop where professional teaching artists guide young people and adults through an exciting excursion into artistic expression. Held at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, in Orange County, CA, it's an opportunity for many of our individuals find their voice.

Budget
$1,750
Outcomes

While lost in the intricacies of the creative process, our members find the freedom to express themselves, through the art they create – and through the socializing opportunity that's presented – in a way that provides them a source of pride and belonging with others.

Seasonal Celebrations

Our kids don't get invited to birthday parties or holiday celebrations. In response, our annual ARM Halloween Haunt, Beach Party, Spring Dance and Holiday Happening are family favorites with food, entertainment and the chance to socialize with friends, old and new, while making lasting memories.

Budget
$5,000
Outcomes

Our young people are, often for the first time ever, empowered to attend a large social gathering, attended by 100 or more people. This is critical training for their ability to enter busy, active get togethers and flourish as they venture out into the neurotypical world.
