School2Home
School2Home is a comprehensive initiative that builds the capacity of its Partner Schools to integrate technology into teaching, learning, and parent engagement to improve student outcomes and establish a sustainable digital learning culture. Since 2009, School2Home has provided financial support and technical assistance to Partner Schools in 12 districts throughout California, including three schools in Orange County. CETF has a dedicated School2Home Team that works with participating districts and schools for 3 to 5 years, providing capacity-building support, guidance, and tools to help them successfully integrate technology into their school practices. The School2Home framework comprises 10 Core Components designed to transform school culture to support improved student outcomes on various academic, social, and technological measures. School2Home hosts an annual Leadership Academy of teachers and administrators who share best practices for integrating technology into the classroom.
School2Home has demonstrated a significant impact in Title I schools by enhancing leadership capacity, bridging the Digital Divide, and enhancing family engagement through technology. Partner Schools reported substantial implementation progress, with more than 70% having a shared vision for technology in learning. Parent workshops increased digital confidence, and broadband adoption rose to 91% by 2022. Additionally, parent-school communication improved significantly, with interactions via technology more than doubling since 2019. Students and teachers extended learning beyond the classroom, while teachers redesigned lessons to personalize technology use. Although Partner Schools still performed below state averages, they experienced less learning loss than peers, and schools with higher implementation fidelity achieved stronger academic outcomes. Overall, School2Home demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating technology, family engagement, and professional learning to advance digital equity and student achievement in high-need schools.
