Accelerate and Scale Replicable Models Coastal Resilience in Southern California

Across the globe coastal communities and ecosystems are underrepresented, often crisscrossed with numerous governmental jurisdictions, agencies, and non-governmental organizations intersecting on the coast but not specifically working there. Coastal Quest works with partners across scales and jurisdictions to identify needs, opportunities, tools, and approaches that will lead to actionable design and implementation of solutions. We work to build decision-maker and community support, strengthen legal frameworks and governance structures; increase climate adaptation to support solutions; ensure effective project development and work planning; and conduct meaningful multi-benefit projects. At the start of 2024 we secured a $1 million grant in partnership with the California Ocean Protection Council to develop and implement a technical assistance program disbursing more than $71 million to local jurisdictions in need of environmental and climate justice and California Tribes so they can prepare for sea level rise and implement nature-based solutions. Tactics • Convening of key multi-stakeholder partners for planning • Climate adaptation vulnerability assessments and planning support • Grant-writing and raising public and private funding • Project Management • Re-granting and contract management Currently we are working with California State Parks in San Diego and Orange Coast Districts, and in Orange County with a multi-stakeholder partnership, in LA County with County Beaches, Harbors, and Parks
