Background Statement
In 2022, there were 5,718 homeless people in Orange County alone with over 3,000 of those unsheltered. Come to Him (CTH) is working to get people off the streets, into a safe environment and transition them into independent living. CTH has been around since 2004 and since that time has helped over 1,000 people. We do this through a holistic approach offering physical, spiritual and emotional help.
Impact Statement
Your donation allows us to provide physical, emotional and spiritual help to the homeless in our community.
Needs Statement
Come to Him Ministries (CTH) exists to guide those who are struggling with a personal crisis which has left them homeless. We help them transition into a Christ-centered lifestyle. As we strive to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals, families, and communities, it is crucial to identify and address the key needs that our ministry aims to fulfill.
In our efforts to fulfill our mission, we have identified several pressing challenges that require attention and resources:
Safe & Stable Housing:
The need for safe and stable housing is on the forefront of the minds of those who come to CTH. When that is put at risk it not only causes great stress to the non-profit but especially to each of the individuals. This hit home to us in early 2023 when the apartment complex CTH has used for the last 17 years to house women and children went up for sale. Not knowing what the intentions of the new buyer were caused us to realize the value in owning our own building; not only for the sake of security, but the ability to control our costs by not dealing with continued raising rents.
Emotional and Mental Well-being:
The prevalence of emotional and mental health issues is on the rise. CTH recognizes the need for each of our residents to see a licensed therapist to help them cope with mental health challenges. While one study says 66% of homeless deal or have dealt with depression, there are many other mental issues that contribute to or go along with that, such as childhood trauma, anxiety and severe diagnosis of bi-polar or schizophrenia to name a few. Addressing mental health goes a long way in helping people transition into successful, independent living.
To effectively address the identified challenges, Come to Him Ministries requires the following resources:
1. $2 million to purchase our own apartment complex thus providing mental, physical and financial stability.
2. $60k/year to hire a part-time licensed therapist to help promote successful mental health and habits for the residents.
With the support of the community and generous donors, Come to Him Ministries aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Empowered individuals who can positively contribute to society.
- Increased spiritual well-being and growth among participants.
- Enhanced emotional and mental resilience among participants.
- Strengthened community ties and a sense of belonging.
Addressing the identified needs is essential for Come to Him Ministries to effectively carry out its mission. We are committed to making a lasting impact and creating positive change in the lives of those we serve. With your support, we can transform challenges into opportunities and help individuals thrive.
