Background Statement

Concordia University Irvine is a US News Top Tier Regional University that prepares its approximately 3,500 students for their vocations—their calling in life. CUI offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and adult degree programs in three beautiful Southern California locations, with online and regional cohort options. Concordia’s undergraduate program is distinctive among universities in California because of the University’s innovative and engaging Core Curriculum, and its Lutheran heritage that provides a thoughtful and caring Christian community that lives out "Grace Alone. Faith Alone." Opening its doors to students in 1976, as Christ College Irvine, the university has two campuses in Irvine. The Turtle Rock campus overlooks the City of Irvine from its vantage point near the 405 and University Ave. A few exists south, the Spectrum Campus is located off Sand Canyon and is located in the heart of Irvine's health and biotech business region. A third campus in Rancho Cucamonga expands our Nursing Program to communities outside of Orange County.

Impact Statement

Our student body is comprised of approximately 3,500 students—roughly 1,500 undergraduates study at the Turtle Rock campus, while Nursing and many graduate programs are located at the Spectrum and Rancho Cucamonga campuses. Approximately 2,000 are adult learners or graduate students who are learning online or in regional cohorts. 98% of our students receive financial aid. A wide range of undergraduate majors, as well as over one dozen masters programs, our Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, and a new Ph.D. in counseling prepare students for their vocation – their calling in life. Our robust student life programs, religious life and chapel services, nationally ranked athletic teams, vibrant performing arts offerings and community programs complement the nationally recognized Core curriculum and access to faculty to create the Concordia Experience. Needs Statement

Ensuring student access and affordability to a quality Christian education will always be top of mind to the wonderful donors and friends of Concordia University Irvine. 98% of our students receive financial aid. Getting students to campus is just the first step. Access to our stellar programs is what will keep a student at Concordia. Funds, therefore, are needed to enhance the Concordia Experience through technology, academic resources, music instruments, athletic equipment, and much more.

Geographic Areas Served

Concordia University Irvine serves students from all 50 states and several countries. A large percentage of our students come from Orange County, and the vast majority of our undergraduate students live in Southern California and the Western states. Concordia received HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution) status when >25% of our student body self-identified as Hispanic.
