PROGRAMS

Films and Media

We believe stories shape our world. We use the power of film to awaken a passion for human dignity and the conviction that no human being should be bought, sold, or sexually exploited. Each feature-length and short documentary film is designed to educate, inspire, and shift harmful ways of thinking. Using hard facts and compelling storytelling with stunning imagery, we invite people around the world to join together to break the cycle of commercial sexual exploitation.

Budget
$1,300,000
Outcomes

With over 40 million views, our films and content have exposed the injustices of the sex industry and shifted paradigms for global audiences, including world leaders.

Intervention and Outreach

Outreach involves seeking out those who have been trapped in the commercial sex industry, and helping to facilitate finding them a way out. We conduct outreach in various locations where commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking take place: strip clubs, hotels/motels, brothels, massage parlors, streets where prostitution is common, and via websites with ads for prostitution. We also regularly visit a local jail, as we’ve discovered that a very high percentage of women in jail have a history of sexual exploitation. We do regular outreach near our headquarters, but also travel nationally and internationally for special outreach initiatives.

Budget
$432,000
Outcomes

Our international outreach has happened in Moscow, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, and around the United States. Our outreach efforts have led to major breakthroughs for law enforcement, such as when our team uncovered and helped dismantle an international trafficking ring in Moscow during the 2018 World Cup. Over the years, Exodus Cry has reached over 5000 exploited women and children with exit resources in 12 countries and we've provided hundreds of hours of life-changing trauma therapy for survivors.

Legal Reform Campaigns

Exodus Cry has launched a number of social campaigns calling for major legal reform within the commercial sex industry. In 2020, we launched the Traffickinghub campaign, which went on to become a global movement of individuals, survivors, organizations and advocates from across a globe, all calling for Pornhub to be shut down and held accountable for enabling, distributing and profiting off of rape, child abuse, sex trafficking and criminal image based sexual abuse. We then launched our Protect Children Not Porn campaign, calling for ID-based age verification on porn sites to protect children from porn exposure. This campaign involved releasing a petition as well as a film called Raised on Porn, which received nearly four million views. We also hosted a symposium on this topic in Washington, D.C. for members of Congress.

Budget
$1,377,000
Outcomes

Since its launch in 2020, Traffickinghub has made enormous progress thanks to the work and participation of all involved. By the beginning of 2023, Pornhub had taken down 80% of the entire website by removing over 10 million videos. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and PayPal had all cut ties with the site, leaving them with only cryptocurrency and wire transfers as payment options. The secret majority shareholder of MindGeek, Bernd Bergmair, was publicly exposed, and the CEO and COO of MindGeek, Feras Antoon and David Tassillo, resigned. Pornhub lost all major advertisers and business partners, including Grant Thornton, Heinz, Unilever, Comcast-Xfinity, Roku, and many others. Meta, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube all permanently shut down Pornhub’s social media accounts, causing them to lose over 14 million followers and subscribers. MindGeek has faced eight landmark individual and class action lawsuits on behalf of hundreds of victims worldwide, totaling billions in potential damages, and was the subject of a Canadian government parliamentary committee investigation.

Since launching the Protect Children Not Porn campaign, Exodus Cry has received over 60,000 signatures on our petition to protect children, which we personally delivered to Washington, D.C. Since then, we have seen 22 states introduce or pass porn site age verification legislation, which could protect millions of children from porn exposure.

Our campaigns continue to have major social and legal impact.
