Fox Fullerton Theatre Restoration

The "Program" of saving and restoring the historic Fox Fullerton Theatre has been almost 25 years in the making. Once completed, the Fox will be a modernly operated, profitable, entertainment venue, wrapped in the wonderful historic fabric of the past for all Southern Californians to enjoy.

Outcomes

Beginning as a community organized project to purchase the Fox saving it from the wrecking ball in 2004, to painstakingly working for decades raising funds, and working on various phase to get the 100 year-old Fox out of harms way. The outcomes:

1) 2004 - The community rallied to the City of Fullerton's "Challenge Grant" to raise 50% of $3.3 million to purchase the Fox from the owner who was selling to an apartment developer who would have bulldozed the Fox to turn into an apartment complex. That didn't happen and the Fox was purchased in 2005 and thus saved.

2) 2006 - 2012 - Over $10 million was put into Fox's rehabilitation with seismic rehab, new roofs, retail building infrastructure and restoration, elevator shafts, new square footage added, historic restoration on ceiling, design schematic worker future phases.

3) 2013 - 2025 - More operating systems restored and added like new HVAC air handling equipment, new, efficient and beautiful restrooms, lobby restoration and more auditorium restoration. Also revised construction estimates to finishes the Fox's restoration in future phases.

4) Over $16.5 million dollars has been put into the project including the purchase price since 2005.
