Nancy Caruso

CEO/Executive Director Experience

Nancy Caruso is a marine biologist and Founder of the nonprofit organization Get Inspired. Nancy has been leading restoration projects in Southern California since 2002. Her Giant Kelp Restoration Project engaged 5,000 students in growing giant kelp in their classrooms, which was later planted in the ocean by 250 trained volunteers. Ten years of hard work paid off—giant kelp forests are thriving again! Building on that success, Nancy has since worked with another 7,000 students to raise and release white seabass and green abalone into those restored kelp forests. Now, she’s turning her attention to her next big challenge: restoring Pismo clams. Through every project, Nancy’s mission remains the same—to inspire stewardship, involve the community in solving environmental challenges, and remind us all that when we work together, we can make a difference.
