Preparing the Next Generation Workforce Program
EXP's Preparing the Next Generation Workforce is a driving force behind reshaping the future for over 8,400 students throughout Southern California. EXP transformative college and career exploration and workforce development programs bring together schools, educators, and industry partners to provide students in under-deserved communities with a unique blend of, academic support, hands-on training tools, experiential learning opportunities, and access to various resources to help them thrive in their post-secondary educational experiences and careers. Our comprehensive programs and services engage students throughout their high school journey and beyond focus on the following four program pillars. 1) College and Career EXPloration is a comprehensive program initiative designed to empower high school students with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about their future education and career path. These programs includes off-campus career discovery and exploration day events, where students learn about careers in an array of high-wage and high-growth industries and have the opportunity to interact with a variety of industry professionals is crafted to inspire, inform and guide students on their journey towards higher education and meaningful careers. Programs includes: a. EXP Signature Guest Speaker Series b. Job Shadowing and Business Site Tours c. College and University Tours d. Career Fairs 2) EXPression Program is an innovative and transformative initiative that places mentorship as its core, aiming to inspire and guide students on a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and creative expression. This is a unique platform for students to connect with a caring and experienced mentors that are passionate about nurturing talent, sparking creativity, and helping mentees unleash their full potential. EXP delivers: a. Industry Coaching b. Project Mentorship c. Advisory Boards 3) Career EXPerience Program is EXP dynamic work based learning initiative that bridge the gap between education and the professional world by offering students real-world experiences. The program provides students with opportunity to explore potential career paths, gain hands-on experiences, and build essential skill through work-based learning, ultimately help them make informed decisions about their future careers. EXP Career Experience Program includes: a. Summer Maritime Immersion Program b. Career Readiness Certificate c. Paid Internship and Apprenticeship Opportunities d. Financial Literacy 4) Career Expanded Opportunities - is a transformative initiative that provides post high school students and young adults with a wide array of employment resources, professional development and networking opportunities as they navigate the critical transition to post-secondary education and career. a. EXP Level Up Program b. Alumni Association c. FAFSA Workshops d. Linked In Workshops Together with industry, education, student, & community partners to identify and address barriers & challenges and deliver services that cater to student needs. We are committed to maximizing our students’ workforce development experiences & expose them to the vast array of college & career opportunities.
EXP is committed to expanding the potential of every student. Our primary goal is to empower schools and industries to work together, create new approaches to learning, break down barriers, and provide genuine opportunities to every student throughout Southern California. Our outcomes for the 24-25 school year include:
1. Increase pathway support to 4 schools in Orange County
2. In Orange County, develop apprenticeship initiatives with industry and community colleges
3. Expose 8,400 high school students with positive educational and career exploration experiences exploring STEM and/or other high-wage and high-growth careers, of which 75% will demonstrate increased knowledge of college and career opportunities.
4. 500 high school students will be provided mentoring and advisement to support their personal and professional growth
5. 200 high school students will complete a professional paid internship experience in a high-wage and high-growth industry sector.
6. 120 EXP alumni and/or young adults (ages 18-24) will be offered STEM and other college and career-related resources, professional development, referral information, support, and/or networking opportunities.
