OUR STORY

Today’s generation of Marines have made unprecedented sacrifices. While there are many ways to honor our Nation’s heroes, there is no organization closer to the intersection of real need and lasting impact than the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. For more than 60 years, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) has made a promise to these families that their sacrifices will not go unnoticed. Since 1962, we have awarded more than 55,000 scholarships valued at more than $235 million, opening doors to higher education for the children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen. These scholarships do more than fund tuition—they honor service, restore hope, and empower futures for the next generation. Today, our mission is more urgent than ever. The cost of higher education has skyrocketed, far outpacing military salaries, while housing, food, and books compound the overwhelming financial burden. All while access to higher education remains one of the most powerful determinants of long-term economic mobility. For families already stretched thin by modest incomes and the emotional toll of service, the dream of college remains out of reach for thousands of children of the selfless, dedicated Marines and Navy Corpsmen who serve our nation. This is an American travesty—but with the commitment of investors and supporters, we have the power to transform this reality.

Mission Statement

Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children™

Background Statement

For more than 60 years, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) has made a promise to these families that their sacrifices will not go unnoticed. Since 1962, we have awarded more than 55,000 scholarships valued at more than $235 million, opening doors to higher education for the children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen. These scholarships do more than fund tuition—they honor service, restore hope, and empower futures for the next generation.

Impact Statement

Marine scholars graduate at a rate of 91%, compared to the national average of 54%, representing an extraordinary return on investment. More than half of them complete their degrees with little or no debt, a stark contrast to the 32% national benchmark. Beyond academics, our scholars carry forward the ethos of the Marine Corps into every aspect of their lives. They become changemakers in their communities, professionals in diverse fields, and ambassadors of the values that define us.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is committed to scaling the impact we’ve consistently delivered since 1962 to meet the growing need for educational opportunities and brighter futures for every eligible student. By 2029, we aim to award 3,010 scholarships valued at $14.7 million annually, a 21% increase in total funding compared to today. Growth of this magnitude will allow us to serve hundreds more students each year as well as increase the average award amounts to cover a larger share of tuition costs. Above all, we will maintain a laser focus on achieving our long-term vision of building our capacity to fulfill 100% of the need by our 100th anniversary in 2062.

Needs Statement

Named Scholarships - Today, a $25,000 gift funds one Marine Scholar for four years. A $100,000 gift supports four students through graduation.

Endowment Support - A $1 million endowed gift generates approximately $40,000 annually, which is sufficient to fund multiple scholarships every year, forever.

Unrestricted Gifts to the Fidelis Fund - Multi-year, sustained support for the Fidelis Fund will help us reach thousands more Marine families who might otherwise never learn about available scholarships, increase application rates to historic levels, and provide the agility to seize opportunities and fund immediate needs without ever having to divert dollars from scholarships.

Planned/Legacy Gifts - A planned gift is an investment in the future that, when realized, provides funding in support of the next generation of Marine Scholars. A realized planned gift is often an inflection point in the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation’s ability to grow and strengthen the outcomes of our mission.
