We expect that at least 70% of program members will report increased quality of life.

Recovery Centers and Clubhouses

Mental health professionals provide primary mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment, medication services, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention and case management, support and encouragement to individuals struggling with chronic and persistent mental illness.  All clients are referred by the County of Orange Health Care Agency.  Services are provided at three program locations including: Costa Mesa, West Anaheim and Lake Forest. Clubhouses compliment the Outpatient Recovery Centers and are located in Costa Mesa, West Anaheim and Lake Forest and open to anyone receiving services at the three locations. The Clubhouse is member driven, designed and operated solely by mental health clients. The Clubhouse provides a supportive environment, a self-help and empowering setting, which focuses on the strength of individuals with social, recreational activities, education and programs which help to realize each members potential.

MHA expects that all clinic clients will become stabilized through medication and case management, and at least 75% of unemployed clients will be able to re-enter the workforce.

Homeless Multi-Service Center

MHA’s comprehensive Homeless Program includes a centrally-located 15,000 square foot Homeless Mentally-ill Multi-Service Center serving all of Orange County. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 10 hours per day, providing consumers with safety, compassion, comprehensive wrap-around services, income resources, healthy snacks, showers, laundry facilities, activities and a permanent mailing address. The wrap-around services offered through the Center are:  Back to Work Program Housing Program Homeless Outreach Wrap-around services including medical, dental, vision, legal, counseling, substance abuse services, social and physical activities. Veterans Outreach: Case workers link qualifying veterans with services through the Veterans Administration (VA) and provide general compassion and support to those they serve.  Benefits Application Assistance for SSI and MediCal.

Budget
$2,462,342
Outcomes

The primary benefit of the Center is its tangible impact on the individuals who agree to seek services. Mentally-ill homeless rarely have the quality of life enjoyed by people who do not struggle with mental
illness. Nationally, over 50% of mentally-ill have drug or alcohol addictions. Poor mental health often affects physical health, especially for people who are homeless. Mental illness often causes people to neglect taking the necessary precautions against disease, and when combined with poor hygiene, mentally-ill homeless are extremely susceptible to respiratory infections, skin diseases, and exposure to tuberculosis or HIV. The combination of mental illness, substance abuse, and poor physical health makes it very difficult for people to obtain employment and residential stability.  With intervention and treatment, there is hope for the individual to enter recovery, become housed, and find meaningful employment.
