Community Employment Services (CES)
My Day Counts provides employment placement services to job seekers with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. The agency is well-known in the community for successfully identifying common barriers to employment for this population and offers specialized vocational and basic life skills trainings, case management, job coaching, personalized employment plans, and employment accommodations in order to provide integrated and competitive employment opportunities to its participants.Once these individuals are socially-ready and have indicated an interest in employment, job coaches and case managers begin the process for supported employment.Through agency-established relationships with outside businesses, program participants are trained to work in teams to perform jobs such as preparing k-cup coffee pods for the travel and hospitality industry, to work on three-person crews to clean carpets and provide power washing services or provide landscape maintenance. Participants are supervised and provided guidance, integrated in the community and receive competitive wages. While learning the specific technical skills needed for these jobs, staff also ensure to provide participants with training for the soft skills necessary to find and maintain employment. Adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities often lack the soft skills necessary to find gainful employment.
My Day Counts’ programs serve adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities by providing support, opportunities and quality services meant to engage, empower and provide access to the community. Each participant is given the tools and choice to develop and grow, build self-esteem, and be treated with dignity, respect, honesty and compassion. My Day Counts offers programs that make a life-changing impact on participants, improve their physical and overall sense of well-being, and remove barriers to employment. Without these important services, many of the participants would be isolated, prevented from making meaningful choices about their daily lives, have no opportunity for employment, or live in a restricted environment lacking in social engagement and opportunity.
Creative Choices
The Creative Choices program combines a site and community-based day program for adults with a full range of intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Participants make meaningful choices about how and when they participate in daily, life empowering activities. Most often, people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities do not make their own choices. Caregivers and family members make decisions ranging from living arrangements, financial decisions, food choices, schedules and participation in daily activities. My Day Counts engages Creative Choices participants through supported decision-making by offering structured and supervised choices, activities and social interactions.

Family Connections
My Day Counts provides the Family Connections program offering support relating to housing for program participants. This program provides a Family Care Home, or a family home environment to adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who have a desire to live outside of their family of origin. Participants are matched with qualified and trained home providers and receive ongoing case management and advocacy support. This program also offers Parenting Support, which provides in-home education, mentoring, advocacy, and training to parents and families of adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, in order to promote independent, self-directed living options for program participants. This program also provides Independent Living Services (ILS) instructors provide a wide variety of support services to participants in their homes. Services include lessons and guidance for improving daily living skills in order to assist the participant in successfully maintaining their independence.

The LIFE Training Activity Program (TAP)
The LIFE Training Activity Program is a life empowering program, that provides program participants with curriculum-based life skills instruction and mastery in a combination of classroom and community-based settings. The purpose is to train and enhance each participant’s knowledge and functional skillset relating to Life, Independence, Friendship and Employment (LIFE) and in determining social- and employment readiness. Presently there are 50 completed, curriculum-based courses available for participants that cover and address a wide-variety of topics, skills and interests for all participants. A vast majority of new participants joining the program are showing an interest in seeking employment, which requires the agency to offer more soft skills training courses than are currently available. As minimum wage rates increase, and the unemployment rate remains low, there is an ever-increasing burden to better prepare those participants seeking employment.
