Background Statement
The Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation began as the Anaheim Family Justice Center Foundation in 2006 as a resource for families in crisis in Anaheim, CA. In 2013 the organization received its IRS Determination Letter changing its name to the Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation ("OCFJC Foundation") and now serves all of Orange County.
Impact Statement
The Orange County Family Justice Center (OCFJC),based in Anaheim, is a collaborative of 16 nonprofits and government agencies that serve victims of child abuse, domestic violence, elder adult abuse and sexual assault in Orange County. The OCFJC facilitates access to the services these victims need to protect themselves and their families from further violence. An OCFJC partner, the Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to provide direct victim assistance, empowerment and violence prevention resources. The OCFJC Foundation strives to transform victims into survivors and break the cycle of violence. The OCFJC Foundation operates two programs: violence prevention programs and direct victim assistance. We know that children who witness violence at home and in the community need to develop healthy and nonviolent strategies to respond to every-day stresses. Research indicates that children who witness violent behavior between parents, or are abused themselves, are at an increased risk of becoming abusers or victims themselves. Through our violence prevention programs, we endeavor to provide the tools and resources that our victims and families need to protect themselves and their families from succumbing to future violence or becoming abusers themselves. In October 2011, we launched Kids Creating Change, now a 30-hour program, that empowers children with the necessary knowledge and skills to break this destructive cycle of abuse. This program covers defining physical and emotional violence, coping with stress, conflict resolution, playground bullying, being a good friend, physical fitness and effective parenting skills(combined parents and children, with breakout sessions). In July 2012, we launched Real Teens/Real Talk, now a 30-hour program, targeted at teenagers ages 13-18. This program covers self-esteem, communication, goal-setting, college preparation, healthy relationships, anger management, anti-bullying and setting boundaries. As of June 2015, 817 children have graduated from our 48 Kids Creating Change and 24 Real Teens/Real Talk programs. We have re-engaged with 278 of these graduates through our 4-hour Booster Program, and we have a 9-member Youth Advisory Board whose members are championing awareness and the prevention of family violence among teenagers. In September 2014 we launched Women Over Violence to empower women facing domestic violence with the tools to help break the cycle of violence and have graduated 42 women from this program. And finally, in 2015 we launched Parents Creating Change to foster positive parenting, self-esteem, conflict resolution, life skills and healthy relationships for parents. In January 2015 we hired a full time Programs Director to oversee our ever growing and highly requested programs. Additionally, we are collaborating with the University of California, Irvine to evaluate our curriculum and programs to insure and evaluate their effectiveness. The foundation also provides direct victim assistance through a variety of programs, some of which include a back-to-school program through which approximately 40 school age children receive school supplies and school clothes for the coming school year. This year 2020 we adopted 81 low-income families during the holidays, and provide additional direct assistance as needed. Most, if not all of the recipients of our direct assistance, have graduated from our violence prevention programs. .
Needs Statement
We are looking for individual, corporate and foundation partners to help us expand our programs to reach even more families in crisis. Our violence prevention programs, both for youth and adults, are in high demand and in order to meet that demand we need to continue to raise funds to meet these challenges in our community.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
The Orange County Family Justice Center Foundation is in a unique position in the community to help victims of family violence by being a partner at the Orange County Family Justice Center. The center helps approximately 4500 victims of family violence annually in Orange County. We know that many of these victims would succumb to future violence or repeat the cycle themselves without intervention. The OCFJC Foundation strives to be that intervention and it provides programs that educate and empower, both youth and adults, with the tools and resources to deal with the stresses of life in a healthy and positive way. We provide our violence prevention programs at the Family Justice Center, in schools and at a variety of locations throughout our community. Additionally, the Foundation provides direct victim assistance in the form of immediate needs when clients are in crisis, it adopts needy families during the holidays and provides back to school supplies to children in need.
