PROGRAMS
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is used to manage community cat populations by humanely trapping the cats, having them spayed or neutered, and then returning them to their original location. This approach aims to reduce breeding and improve the quality of life for the cats, while allowing them to continue living in their outdoor environment.
Our goal is to TNR at least 100 community cats every year and we has been successful in reaching that goal every year since 2021.
Emergency Medical Fund
Emergency Medical funds are always needed for unexpected situations and can be the difference between life or death for an animal. Unfortunately, cats seem to get injured and/or abused frequently and Second Chance is always helping to ensure that medical treatment can be given when needed to prevent unnecessary suffering and pain to otherwise healthy cats.
Over the years, Second Chance has been able to help cats who were shot with BB guns, had acid poured on them, were wrapped in barbed wire, hit by cars, and beat with golf clubs among other horrific things. Fortunately, for these cats, Second Chance was able to get them the expensive veterinary care they needed to heal and then be adopted into loving homes.
