SoCal Ballet Scene
OUR STORY
Our mission is to build community through ballet by uniting Southern California's artists and inspiring its audiences.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to build community through ballet by uniting Southern California's artists and inspiring its audiences.
Background Statement
We believe in the transformational effect of ballet for those who dedicate themselves to the craft and all those who are touched by ballet performance.
Through our signature annual festival, we provide Southern California's top ballet artists and regional organizations with a world-class platform to perform and connect. Our goal is to cultivate a vibrant community of ballet enthusiasts who celebrate the artistry, dedication, and talent that ballet brings to our region.
Impact Statement
Our annual impact reflects our commitment to access, excellence, and community-engaging hundreds of audience members each year (650-1,100 annually), donating 300+ tickets to underserved youth, featuring 50+ professional artists, contributing 1,000+ volunteer hours, and offering 300+ complimentary classes to uplift and sustain the professional ballet ecosystem.
Needs Statement
Although ticket revenue covers theatre rental expenses, it does not fund the artists themselves. SoCal Ballet Scene relies on donor support to raise roughly $60,000 each year to provide professional dancer compensation and essential production costs, ensuring that artists are paid and that our community experiences ballet at its highest level.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
Hi! I’m Rena Kamariotakis, founder of SoCal Ballet Scene and our Signature Ballet Festival event. Having trained and danced professionally in Southern California myself, I saw so much local talent, yet few opportunities for the community to appreciate and be moved by these artists. The Festival was created to provide a performance platform to bring together dancers, choreographers, regional ballet companies, and connect them with the community to celebrate dance together. The entire event, from connections made backstage to the reception following the performance, created a real sense of community among dancers and audience members. All are welcome to join us in this celebration of ballet. I hope to see you at our next Signature Festival Event!
