SCR's 2024-25 season begins with a key transition in leadership as Paula Tomei concludes her 30-year tenure as Managing Director and is succeeded by Suzanne Appel, who was recently appointed following a national search. Appel joins Artistic Director David Ivers as co-chief executive officer of the theatre following 7½ years as managing director of New York’s off-Broadway Vineyard Theatre. Highlights during that time include producing 12 world premieres, transferring four Tony-nominated shows to Broadway and building an industry-first partnership with Audible to launch the audiobook and podcast company’s theatre program with two Vineyard Theatre plays. Prior to The Vineyard, Suzanne was the director of external affairs at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and managing director of The Cutting Ball Theater in San Francisco. Suzanne begins her new role at SCR at the beginning of September. Working in close partnership with Ivers and reporting to the Board of Trustees, Suzanne is responsible for providing strategic leadership for SCR’s long-term sustainability and growth. She oversees SCR’s business operations, including fund-raising, marketing and community relations
