StandUp For Kids
PROGRAMS
StandUp For Kids
StandUp For Kids has several different programs for homeless and at-risk youth, including: 1. A nearly all volunteer led street outreach program targeting runaway, homeless and street-dependent youth; 2. A mentoring program designed to match up youth with role models that help them create, prioritize, and accomplish goals; 3. Housing support program to assist youth transitioning from life on the streets into a room, apartment or group home; 4. Our Work Activation Readiness Program (WARP), provides youth with internship opportunities from local businesses we've partnered with in the community. Additionally, we're partnered with schools across Orange County to offer in school mentoring to at risk and homeless youth during lunch hours.
Long term success can look very different for each youth when working with youth on the street. Ultimately, long term success is fulfilling StandUp For Kids' mission of exiting youth out of street life. This is achieved in a number of way's. Teaching youth to become self sufficient, reunification with families, education and housing assistance. Many youth also keep in contact for aftercare and to give back through volunteerism. Some youth check in to tell us they are doing well as a result of an StandUp For Kids program or a program in the community.
