The mission of the Tustin Public Schools Foundation is to further excellence in local public schools by mobilizing the community and its resources.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Tustin Public Schools Foundation is to further excellence in local public schools by mobilizing the community and its resources.

Background Statement

The Foundation was formed by community members dedicated to providing the resources necessary to educate all Tustin Unified students.  During the first years of operation, the foundation funded "extras" that supported student learning.  Over the years, as budgets declined, the foundation has been called upon to provide more of the key educational components.

Impact Statement

The Foundation played a critical role in supporting student engagement in education and has focused on the whole child including their physical and mental well being. Each school receives funding for specific Principal requested projects as well as competitive enrichment grant requests from teachers. Wellness centers, diverse library resources, robotics and technology needs, community center engagement programs, and more have received support. The Foundation hosts an annual Summer Academy that offers summer enrichment classes and helps students remain in engaged in learning during the break. Student scholarships and busing from Title 1 schools have helped to ensure that all students are able to participate regardless of family finances.

Needs Statement

Classroom Enrichment Grants: $120,000 Teacher requested grants of up to $2500 that directly impact students in their classrooms and schools and enhance learning.
Summer STEM Academy: $20,000 Summer Academy programs are created by credentialed teachers for students to explore new subjects or take a deeper dive into areas touch on during the school year. A no test summer learning program helps students of all ages to continue learning during the summer. Donors help make possible need-based scholarships and busing from Title 1 schools.
Robotics Program: $60,000 The Foundation initiated and has helped to expand a hands-on collaborative experience for all ages of learners. Each year new competitive programs are introduced with new materials and supplies needed. An ongoing travel fund for Title 1 teams to compete in higher level tournaments is needed to encourage the hard work and dedication of students who may otherwise not be able to enter competitions due to costs.
Wellness Programs enhancements for each school: $30,000 The Foundation works with community rooms at Title 1 schools as well as creating calming corners or wellness centers at all schools. Spaces personalized by age and available space and staff help create a welcoming environment with tools to help self regulate or connect with staff to assist as needed.

Statement from the Board Chair/President

The TPSF Board is a dynamic group of individuals who come together bringing their strengths and passions to make a positive impact on our community through enhancing programs in our local schools. It is wonderful to see the community come together in support of our schools through programs like our Dino Dash which encourage wellness, fitness, and school spirit. We are also able to make an impact by stepping in to meet needs as they arise like supporting after school sports for all middle schools, technology resources, competitive robotics programs initiated in all schools as well as recognizing teachers and staff for their efforts in our schools.
