PROGRAMS

Save Our Sports (SOS) After-School Sports Program

The Foundation’s Save Our Sports initiative provides funds for an after-school sports program at all TUSD middle schools.  Thanks to generous community donations, students at Columbus Tustin, Sycamore, Legacy, Hewes, Pioneer, Utt, and Orchard Hills Middle Schools have the opportunity to participate in organized intramural cross country, basketball, and volleyball competitions—programs which were nearly cut because of district budget limitations.  The interest has grown in these programs and now is being expanded to track and field and volleyball for elementary schools.

Budget
$60,000
Outcomes

The students will grow to be active and healthy, while learning life-long lessons of teamwork and leadership.

Summer Academy

The Summer Academy is an enrichment program operated by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation and taught by credentialed Tustin Unified teachers.  Designed to explore new concepts and nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, these exciting courses are all about making learning fun—no homework, no tests, no grades!

Budget
$160,000
Outcomes

Students will be engaged in learning that well help them acquire new skills, work collaboratively, explore new interests or dig deep on subjects touched on during the academic year.

TUSD Robotics

Every Tustin Unified student has an opportunity to explore robotics. In-school and after-school opportunities are provided to teach students to design, program, and build robots. Competitions offer the opportunity to display the robots, and to "show their stuff" to an audience of parents, friends and other students. This program has grown to involve all Tustin Unified elementary, middle, and high schools.

Budget
$60,000
Outcomes

Teams from Tustin Unified have won regional and state competitions, bringing them to the world robotics championships. The Foundation works to ensure that all teams have a strong start to their season by providing new competition and robotic build materials as well as assisting with coach recruitment and training. Students are able to learn technical skills as well as collaboration, team work, problem solving and perseverance. The Foundation helps to ensure that students from all teams will have an opportunity to learn and succeed,
