The Scratch-A-Patch Project
34 Stitches uses art as a bridge to connect and provide a Safe Place for young people to share their story. They draw a window into their world that is packed with messaging (behavioral/trauma identifiers), showing us how they need to be helped.

Outcomes
Young people find healing and hope. Young people feel safe enough to design their most heavy thoughts because the hat doesn't judge. The hat doesn't tell them how they "should" feel. Its's as if they are talking to the hat asking for help. The schools and youth organizations we collaborate with implement a FOLLOW-UP process to discuss the designs. This is the point that defines how the young person can be encouraged and/or supported or address necessary issues.
