Active Discovery

Our mission is to empower children facing financial and personal challenges by delivering diverse and interactive learning experiences that promote active bodies active minds, and healthy relationships.

We believe that everyone is more prepared to PROSPER with regular ACTIVITY in their lives. Every product we give has activity included, because research shows students who are physically active (even for just 10 minutes a day) tend to have better grades, school attendance, memory, and on-task behavior.

Also, getting more exercise can give you a burst of pleasant-activated feelings. Our products lead the kids and families in the right direction with toys, equipment, games, videos and snack-sized workouts, all of which foster a higher level of ACTIVITY.

When many of us were kids our parents gave us a chance to find an activity we liked. We tried multiple sports, musical instruments, scouts, trying to find something that clicked. Our Active Discovery Kits are designed to give at-risk kids a window into a variety of activities they might otherwise never see, and every kit which includes both activity equipment and an activity book. Whether it is Soccer, Cooking, Coding, or Music, our products give at-risk kids a chance to find a passion.

We team up with kids and their families, Title 1 schools, YMCAs, and other partner-providers to help at-risk kids THRIVE...not just survive.

We believe that when learning is fun, learning happens fast! We use games as a great way to teach. That’s what our Adventure Club games are all about. Whether playing the US travel game or Failure to Success version, rolling the dice and completing a snack-sized workout advances you on the gameboard as you learn more about the theme with your friends and family. It teaches, entertains, creates competition and sneaks in some ACTIVITY.

We consult with those that work with these kids every day, and we create products that turn into experiences for the kids, active experiences that help them discover things they love and / or are good at, setting the stage for them to FLOURISH.

We believe that we can help level the playing field by giving at-risk kids and their families opportunities (through our products) they don’t currently have, and this can lead them to grow in how they see their future and give them a pathway to progress regardless of their current circumstances.

We strive to make our experiences as accessible as possible, and that’s why all of our written products are bilingual, increasing the opportunity for parents and kids to work together.

We believe there are amazing programs, people and organizations dedicated to helping at-risk kids, which provide nearly endless demand for our products because they all help their patrons THRIVE.

We strive to remove barriers to activity and discovery.

We strive to do all of the above with the utmost efficiency and an ever decreasing cost per child served as we scale.

Active Discovery’s Track Record
*Over 37,000 children have received Active Discovery kits.
*Over 20 partner organizations have used our Active Discovery Kit program with three new & unique kits a year with their children.
*All of our partner organizations using our turn-key active curriculum are paying a subsidized amount for the kit program. They have "skin in the game".

1. We are looking for sponsors for Active Discovery Kits. It costs us $90 to get one child a full year of Active Discovery Kits. Active Discovery is currently working with 3500 underserved children each year. We are happy to co-brand a kit, an organization, or a region.

2. We are looking for Sponsors for our Hometown Hero Videos. We produce two of these videos and curriculum for our organizations that work with these children each year. The need is $7000 for each video ($14,000 for the year) and we are happy to co-brand these videos with you!

Active Discovery serves underserved elementary aged children and their families in Orange County, LA County, and San Diego County, CA.

As the Executive Director of Active Discovery, I have been amazed to see the interest in helping at-risk elementary aged children right in our immediate area! The relationships I have developed with the amazing Principals of these Title 1 schools and the Directors of the other organizations have inspired me to see the love and care they give the children and families of their school.

It makes us so happy to be a resource that can be quick and agile to bring something to the table to make a positive difference right here in Orange County. I think it is safe to say that anyone that has incorporated activity into their daily life has never regretted it!

2024-25 has been an amazing year. We added 4 new Boys & Girls club locations, with several other organizations interested in partnering.

We bonded with our partner organizations to create and provide turn-key active curriculum through our Active Discovery Kits for them to use day in and day out with these children, and the response was stellar with these Title 1 schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, and affordable housing communities.

We also found ways to support children with acute needs such as children affected by wars and natural disasters in Ukraine, Turkey, and Hawaii. Our kit program is being used in the Dominican Republic as well.
