CEO/Executive Director Experience

For over 30 years, Margie Diaz, LCSW, Executive Director of California Youth Services (CYS), has dedicated her career to supporting adolescents and families facing substance use, mental health challenges, and behavioral concerns. Her professional journey began caring for families of developmentally disabled individuals and expanded into counseling roles that addressed the complex issues teens face today. She quickly advanced into leadership and director positions across nonprofits and healthcare organizations, bringing both clinical expertise and strategic vision to every role. Throughout her career, Margie has developed an extensive knowledge of Orange County’s resources and agencies, forging lasting collaborative relationships that allow her to connect families with the right support quickly. Known as a crisis expert in the field, she is uniquely hands-on for an executive director, dedicating more than half of her time to directly working with youth and families in need, available 24/7 to respond to urgent situations. Margie earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s in Behavioral Science from Concordia University. Alongside her professional achievements, she successfully raised triplets, who are now pursuing their own careers. Her leadership at CYS reflects a rare combination of deep clinical expertise, practical experience, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the Orange County community.
