Mission Statement
Climate Action Campaign is a climate justice powerhouse dedicated to securing a 100% clean, affordable energy future for all. We are relentless in our pursuit of clean air, renewable power, and resilient neighborhoods for every family. We empower Southern California communities to fight for the affordable and sustainable future they want and deserve.
Background Statement
Since 2015, Climate Action Campaign has emerged as a regional leader, reshaping the climate policy landscape in Southern California and beyond. After successfully passing Climate Action Plans in 16 out of 18 cities in San Diego County, we strategically expanded our reach into Orange County. Our efforts have already resulted in 9 OC cities committing to developing a CAP, highlighting our ability to replicate successful policy models across regions. By demonstrating the effectiveness of community driven action, we have inspired cities throughout the state to follow suit, catalyzing broader change and ensuring that Orange County is at the forefront of the clean energy transition.
Impact Statement
Climate Action Campaign is delivering tangible change across Southern California. We launched three nonprofit public power programs bringing renewable power to over 1.2 million people, which are now recognized as top clean power providers in the US. In 2025, we achieved a historic state legislation victory by mobilizing local governments to pressure Sacramento to pass the Lower Your Bills plan, which limits utility profits and bans ratepayer funded lobbying. Our schools work continues to grow, with a total of 187,000 students now benefiting from commitments to transition to all electric energy. Additionally, we launched a fellowship program equipping 15 Climate Champions from campuses including UC Irvine, CSU Long Beach, and Fullerton College to lead the charge for clean air protections.
Needs Statement
Families across Orange County are playing defense while energy bills skyrocket and utility companies rake in record profits. Nearly one quarter of ratepayers are behind on their bills and are often forced to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. Beyond financial strain, our communities face serious health concerns from pollution and dirty fossil fuels. Gas appliances and dangerous pollution in our neighborhoods are harming our families, contributing to chronic issues like asthma and student absenteeism. We must continue to strengthen grassroots power in OC to dismantle entrenched systems and ensure the transition to clean energy is healthy, affordable, and fair for every household.
