Food Rescue Program/Food4Kids Program/Community Food Hub/Backyard Harvest Program
Our core program, Food Rescue and Distribution, operates 365 days a year and engages more than 500 food donors and 400 recipient partner pantries, shelters, missions and more. Hundreds of volunteers help pick-up and deliver donated food from food vendors through 250 weekly food routes. In 2023, we rescued 16.1 million pounds of food (10 million lbs perishable).
In 35 years, we have rescued more than 285 million pounds of food and helped feed 237 million low-income, impoverished individuals. By rescuing this food, we diverted 112 million lbs. of greenhouse gases from harming the environment and saved 94 billion gallons of water from going to waste. Many of these food insecure individuals that have benefitted from our free, nutritious food distributed to our partner agencies have gone on to complete life-changing programs and regained self-reliance through the agencies that we support.
