Healing at the Well
OUR STORY
We provide professional grief counseling, structured support programs, and a compassionate community to women and their children in Orange County navigating the devastating loss of a spouse and parent. Founded by two widows who experienced firsthand the isolation of early bereavement, we address a critical gap in care during one of life’s most traumatic transitions.
Widowhood impacts emotional health, financial stability, parenting, and long-term family well-being. Through certified counseling, group support, and workshops offered at no cost, we remove financial barriers so healing is never dependent on their ability to pay.
By stabilizing mothers and strengthening families in their most vulnerable season, we foster resilience, restore hope, and contribute to a thriving Orange County community.
Mission Statement
At Healing at the Well, we believe in creating hope and healing for widows and their children who have walked through the devastating loss of a spouse and parent. We provide professional grief coaching and counseling so that no widow has to feel unseen, unheard or alone in their grief journey.
Our vision grew from two widows who walked alongside each other after becoming widowed, providing mutual grief support. In that shared experience, they realized the profound need in the widowed community for personalized grief coaching during those first agonizing days, weeks and months. They took their own pain and turned it into purpose by creating Healing at the Well.

Weekly Group Counseling: Coffee & Conversation
Held every week, these group counseling sessions offer widows a consistent and comforting space to gather, share, and heal together over coffee. Led by professional grief counselors, each session is designed to foster connection, emotional support, and community resilience in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
Grief Workshops
Each month, we offered interactive grief healing workshops led by licensed counselors and guest experts. These included educational materials and therapeutic supplies that supported emotional processing in a compassionate, peer-supported space.
1:1 Grief Counseling
We provided individual counseling to widows and their children at no cost, ensuring personalized, trauma-informed support was always within reach—especially during moments of crisis.
Why This Matters
Behind each hour of counseling, each workshop seat, and every retreat experience is a grieving woman—often a mother—learning how to carry her sorrow while rebuilding her life.
Your support removes financial barriers, expands access to life-changing resources, and lets each widow know: she is not alone.
In Their Words
“I felt seen, heard, and loved.”
“It has allowed me to have a safe haven without judgment… to be seen and heard, to have a place to come for wisdom and vulnerability, and to experience encouragement and support. I love their space—it’s so warm and feels homey.”
“It gave me a safe space to feel seen, heard and supported. I was able to release grief, concerns, and fears, and I felt validated in my parenting.”

We were honored to receive the Impact OC 100 grant in November 2025. This transformational support allows us to expand our four core programs and launch a new season of grief workshops, reaching an additional 75–100 widows across Orange County.
Our mission is simple: to ensure that no widow walks through grief alone.
Every dollar directly supports a widow’s healing journey. Your generosity ensures that cost is never a barrier to a grieving woman finding the care, community, and hope she needs.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
At Healing at the Well, we believe in creating hope and healing for widows and their children who have walked through the devastating loss of a spouse and parent. No widow should feel unseen, unheard, or alone in her grief journey.
Our organization was born from lived experience. As two widows walking alongside one another after becoming widowed, we discovered firsthand how isolating and overwhelming those first agonizing days, weeks, and months can be. Through our shared grief, we also discovered the power of compassionate support. In that experience, we recognized the profound need within the widowed community for personalized, professional grief coaching during the earliest stages of loss. We chose to take our pain and turn it into purpose by creating Healing at the Well.
Today, we provide professional grief coaching and counseling services specifically designed to support widows and their children in the early days of grief. We understand that emotional devastation is often compounded by financial stress, leaving families feeling even more vulnerable. With community support, we are able to offer critical services that help stabilize families, provide coping tools, and restore hope during one of life’s most painful transitions.
Healing at the Well is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible where allowed by law. We are committed to transparency, integrity, and compassionate service as we continue to grow our impact within the community.
We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside fellow nonprofit leaders through OC Nonprofit Central and remain dedicated to strengthening families through healing-centered care.
With Gratitude,
