Mission Statement

We serve and support Vietnamese Americans and neighboring communities in Orange County so they may grow and excel, through our educational, cultural, social, and charitable activities

Background Statement

In response to the lack of community services catered to Vietnamese immigrants in Orange County, Hope Community Services (HCS) was founded in 1995 to help Vietnamese overcome hardships relating to migration and adaptation.

Hope Community Services is a non-profit organization focused on offering services to fellow Vietnamese-Americans. Our goal is to strengthen our people and build a stronger community.

Hope Community Services has evolved in the last 23 years to better support the growing number of Vietnamese migrating to Orange County. We continue to assist first-generation Vietnamese immigrants, who speak little to no English and face integrating challenges. We strive to preserve the Vietnamese heritage and culture for the younger generations. We provide all generations with the guidance and support needed to succeed.

Impact Statement

Within the past year:
Hope Community Services was able to expand the ESL and Citizenship classes to educate 115 students and support them through integrating challenges in a culturally competent way.
Our community haircuts program was launched to provide seniors and low-income individuals free haircuts in order to maintain personal hygiene and improve self-esteem.
Hope Community Service expanded on their food distribution programs to have a monthly grocery distribution and weekly meal distribution with culturally competent foods for the Vietnamese community. Over 1727 pantry stable bundles were distributed for our monthly grocery distribution in 2022.
The Hope Summer School program had its 20th anniversary serving students to prepare them for the upcoming school year and learn how to be well-rounded individuals to serve their communities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hope Community Services provided COVID-19 resources and participated in mobile clinics to make vaccines and PPE accessible to the community. Our team was able to vaccinate 3526 community members to stay protected from COVID-19.

For 2023:
Our team strives to obtain more funding towards our senior programs to expand our current resources as well as create new programs addressing the needs of and the intergenerational challenges our senior community currently faces.
We strive to outreach to more community organizations and collaborate for community building to address the needs of community members to improve their quality of life.
We aim to improve the current office infrastructure to designate staff members to focus on program expansion to assist more community members in need.

Needs Statement

Staff funding is needed to increase office capacity to recruit more members. With a larger team, current programs can have designated members to focus on program expansion.
Our team strives to improve on their current skills. They seek leadership development to learn how to effectively manage and expand current programs to assist community members.
Hope Community Services also seeks to have more networking opportunities with funders and community organizations to build a stronger network and partnership for future collaboration.
Our senior population are facing many challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. We seek to have funding for community building programs that can address these challenges and connect our seniors together.
Our site serves as a central hub for our senior community members to access resources. Many of our seniors face accessibility issues to reach our site, such as transportation. Our team needs more funding to expand the accessibility level of our resources.
