Mission Statement
The Irvine Valley College Foundation believes in contributing to a meaningful experience that enhances teaching and learning at Irvine Valley College. Every day we cultivate resources because we strive to provide access to an exceptional education and a caring campus community.
Background Statement
In 1976 a select citizen's advisory committee determined that another campus was needed to serve the north region of the 376 square mile Saddleback Community College District. On July 1, 1985 Saddleback North Campus officially became Irvine Valley College. The original 3 schools were Business and Social Sciences; Arts, Languages and Humanities; and Health, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Technologies.
IVC serves over 15,000 students, offering 81 degrees in liberal arts and sciences, business sciences, social sciences, and technologies. Many students transfer to 4 year colleges and universities across California and the United States.
Impact Statement
Our student body is comprised of over 23,000 individuals, both full and part time learners. Scholarships are given to deserving students so that they may continue their education. For the 2023-2024 educational year we awarded over 600 scholarships totaling more than $558,000. In addition we raise funds for a number of programs on campus in order to ensure that our students have the most impactful educational experience possible. For example funds are raised to cover expenses in order for our Forensics and Model United Nations Teams to participate in competitions. They placed 1st, many times, in national competitions which include teams from four year institutions.
Needs Statement
The importance of the IVC Foundation continues to increase as state and other public funds become less reliable. There are countless opportunities to invest in the students and programs of IVC. A few examples are: Scholarships – As a public institution of higher education, it is our responsibility to ensure that all students have access to an affordable, quality education. Scholarships enable and encourage students to focus on their education. Programmatic – The faculty and staff at IVC strive to provide our students with a well-rounded educational experience. In order to achieve this goal, they often need to identify and secure outside funds to cover expenses that cannot be covered by general college funds as there either are not enough or there is a restriction on the money. The Spot (Food Resource Center) – IVC Students struggling with food insecurities are encouraged to seek out resources in The Spot. The Spot is a free, confidential service aiming to provide registered students with the appropriate resources to manage a sufficient, healthy diet. The program provides short-term relief and offers referrals for additional community support and ongoing assistance with food insecurity. Facilities – While there are plans for new buildings and upgraded facilities, the list of structures and improvements needed in order to fully service our students is long.
