Yves Masquéfa

CEO/Executive Director Experience

Yves Masquėfa has enjoyed a successful career for over 50 years in the restaurant industry. He began working when he was fourteen years old as a busboy and has literally worked his way through every position in a restaurant. Since then he has excelled in the industry, having owned his own establishment for 30 years. Yves is an excellent cyclist and enjoys the competitive nature and extreme physical challenges of the sport. Although he enjoys cycling to keep in shape, his passion is in serving. He is an active member of his community and has served many non-profit organizations through his restaurant and church. Over the years, he has helped hundreds of charities here in Orange County. In addition to the work he does locally, Yves’ compassionate heart led him to serve and cook for hurricane victims in New Orleans. In 2006 he was drawn to Ukraine where he again served and cooked for orphans and at-risk children. In 2013 he was once again drawn to the extreme poverty and life circumstances of orphans and marginalized children in Kenya. In July of 2013, in partnership with Missions of Hope International, he started a cooking school in Joska, Kenya to bring new career opportunities to the area. The project was integrated into the MOHI Home Economics curriculum. He returned in 2014 to continue the work. In 2015 he continued the Kenya project by recruiting a certified canner to continue the project in Joska. It was a huge success. In 2016 Yves was encouraged to focus his efforts here in the states. He began by working with marginalized kids in the Anaheim School District as well as projects with Teen Court and Higher Ground, organizing, directing and teaching cooking skills. During this time, the need for employment for human trafficking survivors was brought to his attention and a plan began to formulate in his mind. In 2017, he first presented his innovative commissary kitchen/food truck business model to provide training and long-term employment to survivors of human trafficking, at-risk women and at-risk foster youth and those aging out of the foster care system. It was met with great support. Kherut was officially granted non-profit status in May of 2019 and now has an office / kitchen located in Anaheim..
