Legal Advocacy

Legal advocacy empowers survivors to navigate restraining orders, court proceedings, and legal resources with confidence. Through collaboration with our therapeutic team, clients also receive A.R.T. (Anxiety Reduction Techniques) and a Cyber Safety toolkit, developed with Tevora, to support both emotional and digital safety.

Outcomes

In 2025, Laura’s House Legal Advocacy program provided 6,969 units of service to 729 clients, including assessments and consultations, assistance with obtaining restraining orders, court document preparation, transportation and court support, monthly legal clinics, and referrals to additional legal resources.

Therapy & Life Skills Workshops

Laura’s House provides non-residential services to individuals in need, including individual and group counseling, educational workshops, case management, social services referrals, housing assistance, and legal advocacy. These services equip clients with the support, knowledge, and skills needed to heal from the effects of domestic violence and build safe, independent lives. Our therapeutic approach incorporates evidence-based practices, including EMDR therapy.

Outcomes

In 2024, Laura’s House provided 833 individuals with access to individual and group therapy sessions in a safe and supportive environment. In addition, clients participated in life skills educational workshops designed to support long-term stability and independence. A total of 6,260 units of service were delivered across these programs.

Emergency & Transitional Shelter Programs

Laura’s House provides 45–60 days of emergency shelter, including safe housing, food, clothing, case management, individual and family therapy, life-skills training, and legal and social services advocacy for women and children fleeing domestic violence who would otherwise face homelessness. Following emergency shelter, the Transitional Living Program offers up to six months of housing and continued support services, helping clients achieve long-term stability, economic self-sufficiency, and lives free from violence.

In 2024, Laura’s House provided safe shelter to 500 women, men, and children fleeing domestic violence, supporting them in breaking cycles of abuse and moving toward safe, independent lives.

Healing through Outreach Prevention & Education

Laura’s House educates adults and community members through its 40-Hour State-Certified Domestic Violence Advocate Training, offered three times annually, along with its Community Engagement program and Speakers’ Bureau. The H.E.A.R.T. (Healthy Emotions & Attitudes in Relationships Today) Program delivers interactive workshops in schools and community settings, equipping youth with the skills to build healthy relationships and prevent future violence.

Laura’s House H.O.P.E. Department provides outreach and education services to increase community awareness of domestic violence and access to available resources. Through its Prevention and Education program, H.E.A.R.T. (Healthy Emotions & Attitudes in Relationships Today), the organization delivers interactive workshops that equip youth with skills to build healthy relationships and prevent future violence. In 2024, H.O.P.E. reached 7,289 individuals through 245 H.E.A.R.T. workshops, with continued growth focused on expanding access to this curriculum.

24-Hour Crisis Hotline

Providing immediate crisis intervention and assistance to domestic violence victims through 24-hour telephone response. In 2022, 3,439 callers were assisted through 4,752 hotline calls.

Laura's House has operated the 24-Hour Hotline for the last 30 years and has provided crisis intervention, safety planning, resources, information, and referrals to assist Domestic Violence victims in crisis. In 2024, we provided crisis intervention to 3,077 individuals through 3,987 calls. We anticipate serving 3,257 callers through 4,227 calls.
