Mission Statement
The Electric Company Theatre is a collective of artists dedicated to nurturing our craft through the exploration, development and presentation of classic, contemporary, and original texts, providing a forum for community connection, and creating a platform for change through the unique experience of live theatre.
Background Statement
For the last 17 years, our team has been producing high-quality, award-winning theatrical experiences. We have taken shows Off-Broadway, won awards at International Fringe Festivals, produced shows in conjunction with the California Humanities Project, ran a successful Children’s Theater program, and produced countless well-attended theatrical experiences for people of all ages (over 200 productions in the last 17 years). Since our rebranding in 2020, we have created COVID-safe experiences in our community, including digital programming (Cookies with Candy for the Children’s Museum at La Habra and Las Abuelas for the La Habra Tamale Festival). We also created a COVID-safe drive through holiday show, Elfeneezer Scrooge, in which audience members tuned in with their car radios for a live adaption of A Christmas Carol. Since 2021, ECT has been the theatre in residence at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center, producing four shows per year including one annual show specifically for elementary students. ECT productions range from site-specific immersive experiences to Broadway musicals to reimagined classics.
Impact Statement
ECT's 2025 season included: White Rabbit Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour; an original musical about local history inspired by Thornton Wilder's classic, Fullerton: Our Town (A Little Bit Wilder!); Lin Manuel Miranda's In The Heights, and an original immersive experience called The Centennial Project celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Muckenthaler House featuring local history and original music and choreography.
ECT's 2026 plans include: After a SOLD OUT run at The Muckenthaler in 2023, ECT brings back to life Once The Musical to experience it again in a beautiful, new performance venue: The Charleston in Downtown Fullerton. Our little pub will take place once again, this time upstairs above Commonwealth in the historic Charleston in February 2026.
You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown will take place in The Muck gallery while the Charles Schultz drawings are on the walls around the audience. Featuring a company of exclusively senior actors, this show will be brought to life with new energy and an understanding that life can be full of joy at any age in March 2026.
Tristan & Yseult, adapted by Emma Rice, will be co-directed by Michael Polak and Brian Johnson. It is the original tale of forbidden desires, broken hearts and the agony of choosing one human being over another. ECT’s production of this adaptation blends comedy, live music, grand passion and tender truths in an irresistible night of love in June 2026 in The Muck Teardrop Driveway.
Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters will take place in October and November. This ECT-centric adaptation will follow a group of underfunded performers as they attempt to pull off this classic comedy with the limited resources they have. We are going to perform this on The Muck amphitheater stage, but not in the traditional sense - the audience will also sit on the stage, as the actors perform in the round.
Needs Statement
Theatre is incredibly expensive to produce, and even more so when adapting to site-specific experiences like the ones we plan on creating for our audiences. Our goal is to raise $35,000 to reach our original fundraising goal to make our 2026 season possible. Please consider The Electric Company in your giving to help us reach this goal and to bring these shows to life.
