Mission Statement
Our Mission:
To stand with those impacted by addiction so no one faces recovery alone.
Background Statement
The Family Recovery Foundation was founded with a mission to ensure no family walks through the pain of addiction or mental health challenges alone. We provide free, clinically informed programs and resources to support families affected by substance use, mental illness, or the loss of a loved one. Our services span prevention education, family healing, grief support, and financial aid—designed to break the cycle of addiction and restore hope. As the demand for these services grows, so does our need for sustainable support to continue serving families nationwide.
Impact Statement
The Family Recovery Foundation is transforming lives by offering families the tools, support, and hope they need to heal. From equipping teens with prevention strategies to walking alongside grieving parents and helping families access treatment, our programs directly impact hundreds of lives each year. Because of our work, families are finding restoration, children are being protected from the dangers of addiction, and loved ones are getting the help they need—free of charge. With continued support, we can expand our reach and bring healing to even more families across the nation.
Needs Statement
The demand for family-centered support in the face of addiction, mental health challenges, and grief is growing rapidly. Families are often left without affordable, accessible resources to navigate these crises. The Family Recovery Foundation fills this critical gap by offering free, clinically-informed programs—but to sustain and expand our impact, we urgently need increased financial support. With greater donor investment, we can reach more families, launch our dedicated app, complete essential prevention resources, and provide full-time clinical leadership.
Geographic Areas Served
The Family Recovery Foundation proudly serves families nationwide, providing virtual access to all programs so no one is left without support—regardless of location. While our organization was established and is primarily staffed out of our California office, our reach extends across the United States through online services, national events, and partnerships that connect families to healing wherever they are.
Top Three Populations Served

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
“As both Executive Director and Clinical Director of the Family Recovery Foundation, I have the privilege of walking directly with families through some of the most difficult seasons of their lives. I’ve seen how addiction, mental health, and grief can tear families apart—but I’ve also seen how support, education, and compassion can bring them back together. Our programs aren’t just checklists—they are lifelines. We meet families where they are, and we walk with them toward healing. This work is deeply personal to me, and I’m honored to be part of restoring hope where it’s needed most.”
— Beth Durling, Executive & Clinical Director, The Family Recovery Foundation
Statement from the Board Chair/President
“When we started the Family Recovery Foundation, it was out of a deep conviction that families shouldn’t have to face addiction, mental illness, or loss alone. I’ve witnessed the pain these struggles bring—but I’ve also seen the power of community, education, and faith to bring healing. Our mission is simple: walk with families through their darkest moments and give them the tools to reclaim hope. This work isn’t just important—it’s personal.”
— Paul Alexander, Founder, The Family Recovery Foundation
