CEO/Executive Director Experience
Diana Farrell founded Lyric Opera of Orange County in 2017 with the mission of reviving opera in Orange County, California. She uses her wealth of experience to create productions which speak to modern audiences and nurture the talents of local professionals. An accomplished soprano known for her “golden voice,” “soaring soprano,” and “lovely and impeccable” sound, she has performed numerous roles, including the title role of Tosca, Lady Macbeth in Verdi's Macbeth, Magda in The Consul, Miriam in The Scarf, and Anna Maurrant in Street Scene, Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia. As a Young Artist with Opera Western Reserve, she performed the title roles of both Tosca and Madama Butterfly for their outreach performances, as well as Micaëla in Carmen. Other role highlights include Contessa Almaviva with Crested Butte Music Festival’s Le nozze di Figaro, and Rosalinda in Simsbury Light Opera Company’s production of Die Fledermaus. She has won numerous awards and has performed with orchestras across the country. A former student of the celebrated soprano, Ms. Jane Eaglen, Diana holds an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music and enjoys singing with the choir at St. John’s Episcopal Church, and the Orange County Festival Singers in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
