Gilgamesh opera brings to life the heroic journey of the demigod king of ancient Uruk, dramatizing themes of seduction, war, love, and the relentless pursuit of immortality. Presented as an operatic prologue followed by two powerful acts, this performance promises to captivate audiences and resonate across generations. Rich in mythological depth, the opera explores profound human emotions, universal values, and timeless themes, offering cultural relevance and meaningful connections to our lives today.
Long term success will be instilling a love of opera as a culturally relevant and enriching art form for new and/or young audiences, while providing professional career opportunity for local musicians and artists.
Opera Engineers
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to star as the diva in an opera? What about bringing characters to life with flashy costumes like you see on Broadway? Ever imagined what goes into creating the sets in a production? Well now you can do it all! Lyric Opera OC will lead our young storytellers, performers, musicians, and artists down the creative road to creating and performing their very own stage work! Will it be a rock opera, a classic musical, or something completely new? Join us and find out at Opera Engineers!
The goal of this event is to make the art form more accessible for young audiences by giving them hands on creative experiences in opera. Through equitably providing a foundation of knowledge and exposure to our participants, we seek to empower them to further explore the world of opera and share in the unifying themes and messages of participating in music and theatre ensembles.
Opera 101: 900 Years of Music in 90 Minutes
Join us on an educational and entertaining trip through music history! On a program full of familiar opera classics, you'll learn when, why, and how opera music has grown and evolved over the last 900 years. A perfect program for all audiences, from 5 to 105! available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Mandarin!
The goal of this event is to make this program more accessible for these audiences by breaking down the perceived barriers of exclusivity, elitism, and education that surround opera. Through equitably providing a foundation of knowledge and exposure to our audience, we seek to empower them to further explore the world of opera and share in the unifying themes and messages of the music.
