OUR STORY

To promote Islamic values by uplifting and inspiring the spiritual, social, health, and well-being of our community.

Mission Statement

To promote Islamic values by uplifting and inspiring the spiritual, social, health, and well-being of our community.

Background Statement

Orange County Community Endowment Fund (OCCEF) has been a trailblazer for the Muslim community of the Greater Los Angeles region for over 30 years since its inception in 1991. With the founding of Islamic Institute of Orange County (IIOC), we've set the bar in the region for community development, programming, events, youth activities, and spiritual functions. With a patronage of over 20,000 we are the most central mega-mosque of the three major Greater LA regions. We set out years ago for an expansion and service, providing structure to house the multitude of needs we've increasingly received demand for over decades.
In September 2022, the OCCEF purchased the Fullerton Sports Club. Originally founded in 1987 in Fullerton, CA, the Fullerton Club was home to olympic racquetball tournaments, swim practice meets, basketball games, and much more. As a non-profit, OCCEF is looking to continue ongoing activities and membership, while revamping its new acquisition, The Meridian Qube Fitness Center. The facility will serve as a community hub for recreational activities, exercise, sports club, tournaments, event spaces, relaxation, family activities, and more.
The Meridian Qube Fitness Center is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Muslim and local community and generations to come. The center will serve as a hub for thousands in the Southern California region to host weddings, events, sports tournaments, and network with other Muslims in the region. We aim to create a space promoting togetherness, family fun, education and health. As we expand, our goal is to foster a safe and healthy environment for youth through programs, events, and sports.

Impact Statement

The Meridian Qube Fitness Center hit the ground running with direct community impact upon its acquisition in September 2022. Within 6 months of restorations and remodeling, MQFC opened its doors to all neighboring non-profits for a community Open House in April 2023. Shortly after, the MQFC began subsidizing programs for community members, youth, elderly, and student organizations. Within the remainder of MQFC’s first year, we provided event subsidies for MSA West, IIOC Young, Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Fullerton Police Department. In Q4 2023 we partnered with senior citizen non-profit organization Olive Community Services to usher a Fall schedule of health and well-being, hosting a joint Open House and enrolling their seniors into our subsidized Fall Schedule of fitness programming. Our subsidies continued to expand assistance to more non-profits consisting of Salam Charity, Muslim Visionaries, Islamic Relief USA, CAIR, Bayan Institute, and Minaret Academy. As of current, our subsidies have reached over 50K in support of both neighborhood and nationwide non-profits to continue to serve and usher community impact while we are currently bootstrapped in our operational capacity.

Needs Statement

With almost 18% of the U.S. Muslim population in the Greater L.A. area, the growing community has a need for spaces outside of mosques. The Meridian Qube provides a variety of services for the community (especially focusing on the youth). The Meridian Qube will host dedicated spaces for women and mothers, health and wellness, banquet halls for events, conferences, and weddings, a youth sports center for tournaments and competitions, a youth education center, and a women’s fitness center and space, and a family gym. The site will be home to various groups in the community and will have something for everyone.
