My Stuff Bags Program
Although we are a national organization, we began a geographically dedicated project, the "Southern California My Stuff Bags Project," many years ago to address the enormous problem of thousands of Southern California children, rescued from abuse, neglect, domestic violence and homelessness, arriving for crisis care with little of their own to cling to for dignity, comfort, and distraction. The goal of the California My Stuff Bags Program is to reach 12,000 desperate children across California with our individual duffels of new belongings each year. In-kind donations of new children’s items are collected and shipped to our warehouse by numerous compassionate individuals, service organizations, and businesses, who generously volunteer to make blankets or collect and contribute items for the bags. Volunteers sort the donated goods, first by gender and then into four age groupings: Infant (0-2 years), Young Child (3-6 years), Child (7-11 years), and Tween/Teen (12 and up). Bags are filled with new items by our volunteers, and shipped to the requesting Partner Agencies, who will distribute the Bags to the children in their care.
In 2025, My Stuff Bags reached an exciting milestone: we have sent 740,000 Bags to waiting children since our inception in 1998! Additionally, in 2025 alone, we provided 20,596 My Stuff Bags to waiting children across 17 states through 91 of our Partner Agencies. In Southern California alone, we distributed 6,970 Bags. We are so grateful to our donors and volunteers who helped make this possible.
