Mission Statement

To serve multi-generational Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities by nurturing an environment for overall health equity and wellness through direct services, outreach, education, and advocacy.

Background Statement

Since 2003 Pacific Islander Health Partnership (PIHP) is the only Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) led (both on the Board and the staff) and serving organization in Orange County. The organization was created to be a hub for serving the NHPI community in Orange County and the surrounding area. PIHP's foundational work includes:
1. Pacific Islander Navigators (PINs) who speak/write their respective languages, understand the unique community nuisances, and practice cultural protocol to maintain their status as trusted community messengers in (5) of the larger Pacific Islander groups that reside in California what are the CHamoru, Marshallese, Native Hawaiian, Samoan, and Tongan.
2. Community -based participatory research in cancer disparities and has expanded to include overall health and the social drivers of health.
Through the years PIHP has brought community together in large gatherings such as the Pacific Islander Festivals and small ways such as 1-on-1 navigation to link and support community members with much needed resources.

Impact Statement

Over PIHP's lifespan they have reached deeply into the community in many ways, such as:
1. Hosted (10) Annual Orange County Pacific Islander (PI) Festivals, totaling approximately 100,000 attendees.
2. Organized (10) annual PI children's workshops and sleepover with the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific totaling approximately 1100 attendees.
3. Trained Community members to serve as PINs (Community Health Workers) for the CHamoru, Marshallese, Native Hawaiian, Samoan, and Tongan communities.
