Background Statement
Since its founding in 2020 in response to COVID-19, Pacific Vocal Series is committed to supporting artists and communities through musical opportunities and experiences. Artists provide us a lens through which we can experience new perspectives of our world, our humanity, and ourselves. Community, humanity, and reciprocity are the values that inspire each hand-curated experience and charitable mission. We are committed to supporting and enhancing the reciprocal relationship between artists and communities through the potential of the human voice and song.
Impact Statement
Since official incorporation in 2021, we have presented public recitals and partnered with Orange County businesses to further exposure to classical singing. Our accomplishments from the past year include a partnership with the Laguna Art Museum to present a recital series titled "A Space for Art," a partnership with the Laguna Canyon Foundation to present a recital titled "Art in Nature," and have partnered with the Resort at Pelican Hill to present a series of Holiday performances in December of 2022. In the coming 2023 year, our organization is presenting a young and emerging artist development program where we are able to provide charitable education to underserved artists recovering from the effects of COVID-19. This offering provides education, coaching, and recital opportunities for these emerging artists whose careers development had been neg impacted by the pandemic. Additional goals for the coming year are to further engage with Orange County businesses and venues to provide greater exposure to world-class classical singing.

Our organization's top 5 most pressing needs include $30,000 in funding for 2023 recital programming and $20,000 to assist young artists in their education and career development. Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
"As human beings, we all have musical memories that we cherish. It might be a favorite concert, our parents or grandparents favorite song, a melody that reminds us of a childhood experience, or it might even a memory of singing your go-to karaoke song. Point being, music is innately human and it brings people together. Creating meaningful memories and coming together are so needed in the modern world.
The pandemic has had a profound impact on the vocal arts. Most artists saw all of their work disappear in 2020, others are still waiting to create again, and some of the world's best singers have left the industry all together. Opera houses and performance venues accrued significant financial debt. Students of voice and the future singers of the world spent much of their college careers learning about their acoustical art form through virtual voice lessons and masked performances. COVID-19 will have a long-term effect on the health and vibrancy of this special art form.
It is our vision that through our charitable services the art of classical singing can continue to evolve, innovate, and meet the needs of our modern world. For thousands of years, we have turned to this art form, the art of listening to a human voice, to connect. In a post-pandemic world, these artistic opportunities could not be more vital to the health of our communities, artists, and charitable organizations as we all continue to recover from COVID-19. There is only good that can come from experiencing and safeguarding the healing potential of creative expression that is found through classical singing and music-making."
Statement from the Board Chair/President
With little opportunity to engage in operatic singing in Orange County, the greatest challenge facing Pacific Vocal Series is exposure and community engagement. To address this challenge, our organization has leaned on partnerships and collaborations with Orange County businesses and already established communities to cast a broader net of artistic exposure. As we continue to grow, Pacific Vocal Series will work to continue to engage in salon-style private events and fundraising recitals to assist in funding our public recital series and young artist development programs.
