CEO/Executive Director Experience
Janice Frechette-Artinger is the Executive Director of the Parentis Foundation, where she leads Empowering Readers OC—an award-winning intergenerational literacy initiative that improves reading outcomes for elementary students in underserved communities by engaging older adults as dedicated volunteer mentors. Since joining the Foundation in 2016, Janice has guided the organization's strategic growth, expanding the program to serve more than 1,500 children while building a sustainable model centered on measurable outcomes, community partnerships, and volunteer engagement. Under her visionary leadership, Parentis Foundation has become a recognized leader in intergenerational service, bringing together schools, nonprofits, businesses, civic leaders, and public agencies to address two critical social issues: childhood literacy and social isolation among older adults. Her collaborative approach strengthens educational equity while fostering meaningful connections across generations. Janice is a 15-year member of the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley, serves as Vice Chair of the Orange County Department of Education's Bright Futures Foundation, is Vice Chair of the Passkeys Foundation Institute for Community Impact, and serves on the Advisory Board of Templo Calvario Community Development Corporation. Through these leadership roles, she is committed to building strategic partnerships that strengthen nonprofit collaboration and expand opportunities for children and families throughout Orange County. A respected nonprofit executive and community leader, Janice has received numerous honors, including the 2025 Founder's District Toastmasters Communication & Leadership Award, the 2022 Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Service to Youth Award, and recognition as a Finalist for the Los Angeles Times B2B Orange County Inspirational Women Leadership Award. She is also a sought-after speaker on nonprofit leadership, volunteer engagement, intergenerational service, and educational equity. Driven by the belief that strong communities are built through collaboration, literacy, and service, Janice is dedicated to uniting generations, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to become a confident reader and lifelong learner. Through her leadership, Parentis Foundation continues to demonstrate that when communities invest in children and empower older adults to share their wisdom, everyone benefits.
