Pier Entrance Project
A capital improvement program intended to restore the entrance to San Clemente Pier. The project involves landscape improvements, beach and Pier access improvements and eases a traffic choke point at the base of Pier where the SC Trolley, Metrolink, automobiles, bicycles and pedestrians converge to reach the Pier. Public art is an integal part of the project, including a tile installation and painted murals that recognize the 100 year history of San Clemente's coast. This project will be complete for 2028, the Pier's 100th birthday, and act as an invitation to all who visit the Pier.
Increased use of rail underpass for safer access to the Pier--benchmark data already collected. Goal is to increase visitor use by at least 20% in the summer season. Reduced traffic congestion in the Pier bowl allowing for easier access to the coast and the Pier. Sparking a sense of possibilities in all who visit the Pier.
