Background Statement

Platinum Performing Arts was formed this past May 8, 2023 in Orange County, California. The founding
corporate officers have over thirty-five years working in the performing arts. The Board President,
Alexandria Thompson, has previously managed performing arts companies and non-profit organizations,
including a musical theater program for adults with special needs in Missouri. As strong advocates for
performing arts education, the founding corporate officers have seen first-hand a need for more
inclusive and accessible performing arts programming in the Orange County community that are
affordable and high quality. Platinum Performing Arts seeks to break down some of the financial,
physical, and social barriers that prevent children and young adults from participating in performing arts
and entering entertainment industry careers. There is a need and important opportunity to offer these
options in the form of theatre and dance classes, productions, competition teams, community
performances, adaptable and inclusive performing arts options, sensory sensitive performing arts
programs, and inclusive performing arts educational spaces.

Impact Statement

Platinum Performing Arts opened it's studio doors on August 26th 2024. As an new organization, we expect growth to be slow and steady, but are thrilled to share that from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025 we tripled our enrollment and have provided a total of 6 scholarships (as of February 2025). We are so excited for the growth to come as we continue to engage with our community and supports quality performing arts experiences for all.

Our impact goals for 2025 are to:
1: Provide a total of up to $3,000 in scholarships to students in low-income families and/or students with disabilities.
2: Offer our first All Abilities class for students with disabilities.
3: Engage with the Orange community through arts events, community events, and youth advocacy.
4: Produce our first full-scale children's musical performance.
5: Conduct dance and theatre classes that are high-quality, welcoming, and inclusive.

Needs Statement

Platinum Performing Arts biggest needs can be split into three main categories: Scholarship Funds, Start-Up Costs & Performance Costs.

Scholarship Funds: We offer scholarships that cover the cost of Platinum Performing Arts' classes, productions, and camps to qualifying students who are in low-income families and/or students with disabilities. However, the amount of students we can offer scholarships to are limited by the amount of Scholarship Funds we have available for that fiscal year. While the Special Needs Scholarships for Summer 2025 & Spring 2025 have been funded, we are seeking $2,000-$5,000 to provide Low Income Scholarships for Summer 2025 & Spring 2025.

Start-Up Costs: As a new non-profit organization, we relied on donations to cover the cost of leasing a studio space in Orange, CA, renovating, and buying all materials needed to start classes. However, the donations did not cover all of the costs. We used credit to buy items such as our dance floor, dance mirrors, and theatre floor to make many purchases. $9,500 is the remaining bill for our start-up costs.

Performance Costs: Platinum Performing Arts believes that high quality performance experiences in a welcoming environment can help children develop as artists and support their social-emotional wellness. Our goal is to produce a children's musical in 2025 that is accessible and affordable for families in Orange, CA. Having Performance Cost support would allow for us to keep our enrollment fees low and help more students shine onstage. The estimated cost of producing a musical that includes professional instructors, theatre rental, theatre staff, set, costumes, and script licensing is $8,000.
