SYTT DV Ambassador Program
Speak Your Truth Today’s DV Ambassador Program is a scholarship-based trauma-informed 50-60 hour certification program. Participating volunteers are trained and certified in four vital trainings, with the goal of building SYTT’s capacity in providing trauma-informed support to support those impacted by domestic violence. This aids in the facilitation of supporting members who have experienced immense traumas, have suicidal tendencies, and those who have endured multiple forms of abuse. It is imperative that our volunteer team is well-equipped and prepared to provide our members with the most educated and empathetic care possible.
Program participants become trauma-informed certified professionals and are then empowered to support abuse education within SYTT's private virtual DV Facebook group, as well as utilize their learnings to become a key resource within their own respective communities.
SYTT DV Care Package Program
Speak Your Truth Today’s Care Package Program is a survivor-assistance program for its domestic violence Facebook support group members. Those who have escaped abuse and have an immediate need for basic necessities (i.e., food, housing, or financial instability) can apply on a one-time basis to receive a tailored care package in their time of financial crisis. SYTT partners with several businesses to include essential needs, self-care items, and helpful resources to aid the survivor in their independence, with the goal of helping the survivor feel supported by a community who cares. SYTT care packages are provided in 2 tiers to ensure that the survivor in need receives appropriate assistance.
Program participants report receiving practical resources that aided their escape from abuse.
SYTT DV Facebook Support Group
Speak Your Truth Today's DV Facebook Support Group for those impacted by domestic violence has become a virtual crisis response warm-line that runs 24/7 in real-time, and has grown to more than 19,269 ability/gender-inclusive members. SYTT relies on a large volunteer team to facilitate and ensure the safety and kindness of the support group. Volunteers are trauma-informed, certified advocates, mandated reporters, and suicide gatekeepers—who all have lived experience—with most residing in the U.S. and Canada. Our core values are education, empathy, and empowerment of the survivor. Through abuse education, networking resources, providing emotional support, and celebrating freedom, SYTT has been able to help about 3 people leave abusive relationships every single week since it began in February 2019. SYTT is essentially a global community – networking its resources and walking with its members on their entire journey out of abuse.
Those impacted by domestic violence are able to access 24/7 real-time emotional support, resources, and abuse education which will help lead them towards healing and freedom.
