The Craig School
PROGRAMS
Academic & School Program
The Craig School is a private, nonprofit school serving students in grades 3–8 whose learning improves when structure, support, and expectations are intentionally built into the school day. Students receive a full academic curriculum aligned with California State Standards, taught by credentialed teachers in small classes. Behavioral and social-emotional support is integrated into daily instruction so students remain engaged in learning rather than being removed from it. This program serves students who are capable learners but need an environment designed for attention, regulation, and confidence to access their potential.
Students demonstrate improved engagement in learning, stronger regulation skills, and increased academic participation over time.
Families report greater consistency between home and school, improved confidence in their child, and reduced stress around school attendance and performance.
Science of Learning (SOL) lab
The Science of Learning lab, or SOL, is embedded within The Craig School and ensures that classroom practices remain intentional, responsive, and research-informed. SOL supports ongoing data collection, observation, and collaboration among educators, behavioral staff, and graduate-level research interns from local universities. This work helps the school evaluate what is working, refine support strategies, and evolve responsibly as student needs change. Research at The Craig School is not experimental. It strengthens real classrooms serving real students.
Instructional and behavioral supports are continuously refined based on evidence rather than assumptions.
Students benefit from more consistent, responsive support, and families gain confidence that decisions are grounded in observation, data, and experience.
Family Education & Support
Strong student outcomes depend on alignment between school and home. The Craig School offers structured parent education and family support programming to help caregivers understand attention, regulation, and behavior through an evidence-based lens. These programs provide practical strategies families can apply in daily life, reducing stress and improving consistency for students. Family education is a required part of the program for new families and reflects the school’s belief that lasting growth happens when adults are supported alongside students.
Parents report increased confidence in supporting their child, improved communication at home, and a stronger partnership with the school.
Students benefit from consistent expectations and shared language across environments.
